Captain Diane Whitmore

Diane grew up on the water in the Florida Keys, learning to fish before she could ride a bicycle. After earning a degree in marine biology from the University of Miami, she spent five years working coral reef restoration projects across the Caribbean before a simple realization brought her home: the best way to protect the ocean is to help people fall in love with it.

In 2010, Diane purchased her first boat, a 24-foot Yellowfin center console she named Reef Runner, and started taking small groups out on fishing and snorkel trips from the Key West Bight. Word spread quickly. Within two years she had added a second boat and hired her first captain.

Today, Coral Bay Charters operates a fleet of six vessels and a team of experienced, USCG-licensed captains who share Diane's commitment to safety, sustainability, and making every trip genuinely memorable. Diane still leads charters several days a week, and you will often find her at the dock early in the morning, coffee in hand, prepping gear and greeting guests.
